White Friday 2026 in Egypt and KSA: Real vs Fake Discounts (Methodology)

Last updated: · Full report after the sale

Do you have results yet?

Not yet. We have one price capture so far, on , for 32 products (19 in Egypt, 13 in KSA). That is not enough to judge White Friday discounts. This page explains how we will judge them, and it will be updated with numbers after the sale.

What we have recorded so far

  • 19 products from 2B (Egypt) and 13 from Apple Store Saudi Arabia, all captured on 22 Oct 2026.
  • Egypt: 19 of 19 products showed a “was” price, with the current price 18–29% below it (median 27%). That is the store’s own claim; we do not yet know whether the item ever sold at the higher price.
  • KSA: Apple’s pages show no “was” price, so we recorded the starting price only.
  • Open file: electronics price index CSV.

How we will judge a discount

  1. Reference price: the lowest price we recorded ourselves for the same item in the weeks before the sale, not the store’s “was” price.
  2. Real discount: the sale price is below the reference price.
  3. Fake discount: the sale price is equal to or above a price we recorded before the sale, whatever discount the store displays.
  4. No verdict for any item without at least two pre-sale captures, and we say so.
  5. Every price is stored with its date and product URL. We never estimate or fill in missing prices.

Limits

The sample is small (electronics from two stores) and does not represent the whole market. Prices vary by colour, storage and seller. We will add captures before, during and after White Friday, and we will not publish a “fake discount” share until they are complete.
